Grace and Love

Deuteronomy 23 vs 3 . “An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to their tenth generation their descendants shall not enter into the assembly of the Lord forever.” . Ruth was a Moabite woman! As far as the law was concerned, she was not permitted to come near or enter the congregation of the people of God! The Moabite women in the bible were seen as “delilah’s” who lured men into sin and destruction. The odds were against Ruth, she wasn’t qualified to marry an Israelite more so after she was already a widow from another marriage. The law was against her, but grace was with her! The law had condemned her but grace redeemed her! The law made her unqualified but God’s grace qualified her! Are you a young single woman, man, widow/widower that has been told that you are not qualified for marriage because of your past? Hear the word of the Lord! The grace of God has qualified you! Don’t listen to the law (people), listen to the voice of God. Grace speaks louder than the law!

The grace of God that made Ruth so attractive and such an irresistible person. How else can we explain a CEO young multi-millionaire falling in love with a lowly gleaner, How does a Moabitess gain access into the temple of God and belong in the genealogy of the Messiah? It can only be grace. But the story of Ruth is not all about grace, sometimes we focus on the God-factor that we fail to take responsibilities that guarantee success. This week we will like to consider some intangibles that made Ruth such a beauty to behold and to desire: 1. Loyalty – Whether in a relationship, as an employee or a partner in business, life will never deliver to you its best if your loyalty is not in place. In Ruth 1:16-17 we saw loyalty personified. In sports for instance, it is the loyal guys that get the max contract and hold the arm band of captainship. They may not even be the most gifted player in the team but that thing called loyalty is a priceless gem for top flight organizations. As we go on to have a great week ahead, lets remember to imbibe this valuable virtue (loyalty)

GOD LOVES YOU. RUTH 2 VS 19-20. 19 Naomi asked her, “So where did you glean today? Whose field? God bless whoever it was who took such good care of you!” Ruth told her mother-in-law, “The man with whom I worked today? His name is Boaz.” 20 Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “Why, God bless that man! God hasn’t quite walked out on us after all! He still loves us, in bad times as well as good!”  The story of Ruth is as simple as this; GOD LOVES YOU! You might be going through a challenge, a health issue, financial crisis etc. Be still and know that God is still God,  your problem does not limit God’s power. He loves you in the bad times as well as good.
