Evangelism or fishing as we love to refer is the act of telling people in words and in action about the love of God. Fishing for souls is not first about converting souls and taking them to heaven, that job function belongs to the Holy Spirit and He is capable of doing His job. Our job in evangelism is to express and extend God’s love to our neighbors. We live in a time when a lot of people are frustrated and depressed. Many people feel they are alone in their struggles. Our job as fishers in our neighborhood is to let people know that God cares and in 1st Peter 5:7 Jesus Christ said “cast all your cares on Him for He cares for you”. This Jesus Christ who cares for you was once on earth physically but now He dwells on the inside of true Christians. The challenge today is for this true Christians to be the human extension of Jesus in touching lives positively. Jesus forgave sinners, He helped drug addicts overcame their additions, He fed the hungry, healed the sick, comforted the broken hearted and gave hope to the hopeless. Would you be the Jesus in your neighborhood today? I challenge you to be the reason why someone went to bed with food in his stomach and a smile on her face today. Ye are not your own. Paul sold himself to Jesus Christ. He says, I am a debtor to everyone on the face of the earth because of the gospel of Jesus; I am free to be an absolute slave only. That is the characteristic of the life when once this point of spiritual honour is realized. Quit praying about yourself and be spent for others as the bond slave of Jesus. That is the meaning of being broken bread and poured out wine in reality. (Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest). As we abide in Jesus this week, may we sense our indebtedness to Christ as it pertains to every unreached and unsaved soul on the earth. May we recommit ourselves to do anything to enable Jesus to bring His redemption to other lives.

Stop looking for a pulpit to evangelize when God has given you an opportunity. Your area of influence is the best place to start when trying to talk to someone about Jesus! Your area of influence might be social media,(if you have a lot of followers and engagement start from there to start winning souls for the kingdom. For people in the work place and market traders, you can evangelize Jesus too as you work and relate with people. Seize every opportunity you have to tell someone that Jesus loves them! Will you be the Jesus in your neighborhood today? You can’t have the boldness to preach the gospel when you haven’t spent time with the one who is the gospel. Prayer enables us to be bold for Jesus! It is an acknowledgement that we cannot do anything for Jesus without Jesus! Have you prayed this morning?

Lay your treasure where thieves and locusts will not devour it! Is your only investment in business? Why not invest in someone today. Be the Jesus in your neighborhood/workplace. This is the kingdom wealth. Most times we go through some difficult challenges and we try to hide them because we are ashamed and afraid that the world will judge us. We are only able to experience grace today because one man allowed his story of shame, betrayal and death on the cross to be told all over the world via books, tapes, movies etc. Where would we be today if Jesus had hidden his pain? The greatest hindrance to healing is pretence. We suffer and wallow in pain and bitterness because we haven’t realized that “for every Pain, there is a Purpose.” God can do a lot with your pain, shame, challenge etc. (only if you let him). Your pain is bigger than just you! God is asking you this morning, can I use your pain, that shameful past you’ve tried so hard to hide, to save a soul? Your pain is your platform for evangelism!
